Position: Executive Director

Direct Reports: Board of Directors

Location: Dallas, TX

The Executive Director is the key management leader of Heroes for Children (HFC). The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, brand-building/marketing, and community outreach. 

Board Governance:
Works with the Board in order to fulfill the organization’s mission.

  • Responsible for leading HFC in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Communicates effectively with the Board and provides, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
    • With the Board Chair, leads monthly Board meetings and annual Board retreat.

Financial Performance and Viability:

Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of HFC, to include submission to the Board a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Leads fundraising and develops other resources necessary to support HFC’s mission.
  • Meets or exceeds financial growth of the organization.

Brand-Building, Marketing, and Fundraising

  • Overall responsibility for achieving annual fundraising goal and increasing public awareness.
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of existing major donors and key prospects generating a predetermined annual financial goal.
  • Enhances HFC’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.

Organization Mission and Strategy:

Works with the Board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

  • Plans and implements strategies to fulfill HFC’s current mission and to ensure that HFC can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.

Organization Operations:

Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure the efficiency of the agency’s operations.

  • Responsible for the competent and energetic administration of HFC’s operations.
  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
  • Acts as representative to sign all agreements on behalf of the organization. Acts as HFC team member.

HFC Team member

  • Leads budget planning, goal setting, weekly meetings, and annual evaluations.
  • When needed, assists with events, fundraising, and public relations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
