Don’t Dread Monday is organized around a four-phased path to sustained career success as represented by the CARE Model. These phases build upon each other and are prescriptive in nature – they form a step-by-step approach to align your career needs, choices, and actions to generate the career that fits you. The CARE cycle is a common framework, but the answers are unique to each individual. In our experience, there is no shortcut. We recommend that you trust the process and do the work.

Challenge and Change

In this phase, you assess your current level of career success and highlight the pervasive career myths that may be limiting you. You will also review the corresponding truths upon which career success is built.

Awareness of Self

The second phase is critical to setting the foundation of career success. In this Phase you walk through a process for identifying your unique passions and career needs.

Reveal the Path

The third phase in which you methodically review the career options and make a clear choice that will begin to set your career in lively motion. In this phase, you turn your self-insight into a career declaration.


The culmination of the learnings and decisions in the previous three stages, moving into a deliberate career strategy through application of the Reframe, Refine, and Retrench model and four practices for shaping your career.

As you’ve probably guessed, the higher your score the more your passions are currently finding expression in your work and career.

If your score is under 40, there is room to improve. If your score is over 40, you will want to know why your current job is working for you, so you can continue to create a fulfilling career.

As a guideline:

If your score is below 20 , you are/were feeling the effects of a job that is mostly to totally misaligned with your passion.

If your score is between 21 – 40 , you are/were experiencing some ups and downs, indicating aspects of the work energize you.

If your score is between 41 – 50 , You are/were generally to totally passionate about the work you are doing.
