About This Position

The City of Fort Worth, TX is seeking a seasoned, experienced, highly competent Human Resources leader with a deep commitment to the mission of public service to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the HR Department, including Civil Service functions. An exciting time to join, as the city is experiencing significant growth, the Director will guide a high-performing team across all facets of HR while leading numerous initiatives that will allow this person to make significant contributions. Initiatives include a classification market study, civil service and union relations, addressing complexities around the payroll platform, and an HRIS overhaul with an emphasis on an agile and efficient HRIS structure.

Reporting to the Assistant City Manager, the Director acts as professional advisor and leads with innovation, collaboration and long-term impact. Key Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR management, business or public administration, psychology, sociology, or a related field
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including 4+ years in a managerial or executive role
  • Experience in municipal/government HR is a plus

Preferred Certifications:

  • Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-CP, or similar) is desired
